To Sir S, this meant playing with tissue paper; had all of his gifts been bags of tissue paper, he would of been one happy camper. However, Princess C would have been a different story. She knew it wasn't her birthday, but she also figured out that whatever toys Sam got, she would get to play with them as well.

Gift bags and tissue were all good and fun for Sir S, but none of that could compare to the joy of birthday cake....I figured that Sir S would really enjoy his cake, after all, he is his my son, thus I stripped him down to his shorts before I put him in his high chair.
I lit the candle on his cake and King M set it in front of him. He immediately tried to dive right in. King M picked it up and had to hold it out in front of him so that everyone could sing happy birthday and Princess C could blow out the candle (something she had been practicing all day).
When King M placed the cake in front him, he put both hands on each side of the cake and stuck his face right in it.
It was the funniest thing I have ever seen.
I have been to several first birthday parties and most kids are not that bold. Some pick at it for a while and debate if it is worth getting their hands dirty while others play with the cake for ten minutes before tasting it. There are even some alien children who don't like the sugar (these children are odd and we don't play with them :).
However, not my son. He dove right in.
I know you are probably looking at these pictures thinking, "Well, that woman obviously starved her child for a week!" I can promise that he had eaten all day long and for dinner he quite enjoyed his Mexican Fiesta.
He just really, really likes cake (once again, he is his mother's son.)
He devoured the entire top layer and a good chunk of the second.
When I finally cut Sir S off, he had cake in his ears, up his nose, and in his hair.
King M and I were laughing so hard we had a hard time enjoying our own cake.
Princess C did not find Sir S's style of eating a cake to be appropriate and she demanded a fork when she finally got her piece. When Princess C turned one, I killed my self trying to find the perfect cake with matching little cake. I learned my lesson; this time I got the big cake that I would want, chocolate death.
It was complete with chocolate cake, chocolate mousse in the middle and obviously chocolate icing. The cake was soo yummy and everyone knows that calories do not count on your child's birthday. Sir S's birthday is actually the 5th, but we celebrated it on the 9th, which is also my dad's birthday. Poor dad, last year on his birthday, we brought Sir S home from the hospital, so he has been overshadowed. I fear that I did not do enough to recognize him this year or last because he certainly deserves it, though he would never admit it in 100 years.
Overall, Sir S's birthday was a success, but it was rough for me. He is no longer my baby....
